Abstract

This paper presents an approach to elderly and dependent care management in the Basque Country. We first present an analysis of aging processes and their socio-demographic consequences using EUSTAT data bases. The second section of the paper focuses on an analysis of the current provision of care for the elderly in the Basque Country. For this, we adopt a feminist economics perspective and, more specifically, of care economics. The methodology adopted consists in a review of the literature and analysis of various data bases. The article concludes highlighting the critical significance of public policies as care has to be considered as social investment for the future.
