Abstract

Online banking has developed at the same pace as the Information Society in Spain, it is fast becoming an essential channel for the distribution of financial services. Up to four different factors have eased this situation: legal and regulatory changes, recent technological developments, improvements in usability and functionality and, finally, improvements in security measures for electronic channels. This article reviews the four pillars that configure this favourable environment and points out some future trends.
