La perspectiva institucionalista del desarrollo regional: una crítica constructiva

Abstract

In recent decades a number of theoretical texts have stressed the importance of social, organisational and institutional elements in regional development . This diverse –but at the same time consistent–body of theoretical literature forms the “institutionalist” conception of regional development. It takes many different forms (epistemological, territorial, etc.). The purpose of this article is to give a structured view of this complex theoretical process, in which there are significant differences between some of the more abstract elements (essentially epistemological) and the most applied projections (industrial districts, milieux etc.). This is a fundamentally important undertaking in evaluating the scope and limitations of the analysis and developments carried out.
