Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive view of the relationship between financial variables and corporate investment in Spain. With this purpose in mind, first a descriptiva analysis of a sample ofprivate manufacturing companies for the 1984-1992 period is carried out, based on data from the Balance Sheet Central Office of the Banco de España. A brief revision of the investment models which incorporase the possible influence of financial variables in investment decision-making is then carried out. The analysis ends with a study of the existence of corporate groups which may be more restricted due to higher risk concentration or meagre collateral.
