Abstract

This article is aimed at summarising a number of organizational and strategic features of the Spanish manufacturing firms, using the information provided by a recent survey Encuesta sobre Estrategias Empresariales (ESEE). lt also surveys some results from more analytical studies carried out with the same data base. The approach is not intended to be fully comprehensive; it mainly stresses some new insights and interesting aspects of the evidence. The topics covered include firm size, ownership, organization and age, market position, a number of characteristics of the price strategies -input and output prices-, and some aspects of the non-price competition strategies: product differentiation, diversification of production, export and R+D activities.
