Abstract

The aim of this paper is to explain the process of reforms through which the Czech and Slovak authorities wish to stimulate the change towards a market economy. The article analyses the privatization policies, liberalization of prices and the constitution of a new juridical and economical framework as the fundamental aspects of such a process. lt also considers government concern for economical stability and the establishment of a system of social protection. Lastly, it studies the production and foreign trade structures of the aforementioned republics with a emphasis on the distance that separases them from advanced economies.
