Abstract

The dramatic change undergone by housing financing in the 1980''''s is typified by the increased competition brought in by commercial bankíng. There has been a considerable improvement in credít conditions, partícularly noticiaste in the mortgagelvalue ratios. The 1990''''s may well witness the development of securitization if there were a generalizatíon of the recent Frech example, where a Loans Guarantee Fund has been created, acting the State as guarantor-a key issue which is as yet missing in European securitization. New repayment systems applied to mortgages could also improve the amount of effort which families make to this end.
