Abstract

This article tries to explain the relationship between technological change and employment in Spain from 1975 until now. The main conclusions of this work are, first, that the effect of the introduction of new technological equipment on a firm, is that it saves labour for each output unit in almost all economic sectors. Nevertheless, empirical evidence has been found of other ways to compensase for the reduced labour requeriment, with its final effect being the expansion of the employment leves in almost all sectors.
