Abstract

This work is presentes as another source of information to be used in the design of geographicalbases forthe use of regional developmen tpolicy instruments. It consists of a Principal Components analysis made on the territorial base of the municipalities of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country. The variables used allude basically to economic evolution between 1975 and 1986 and refer to the job market, population and comparativa variables of the standard of living and resources for social welfare. The aim of the analysis is the extraction and identification of the factors which synthesise and summarise the information. The work concludes by giving the results from some municipal groupings which have been and are the territorial support for interventions in regional policy.
