Abstract

During the past three decades, profound structural changes have taken place in advanced economies, which have undergone a period of growth followed by a period of crisis. The aim of the article is to present and analyse the process of structural change in the light of the important role of modern services and new technologies. The first part of the article is devoted to analysing the relation between income and production structure; the second discusses the growtng interrelation between industry and services; and the third deals with the impact of the new technologies on this interrelation and on the occupational structure of the economy.
