Theories of financialization of non-financial corporations: a critique

Abstract

Financialization is often seen as a consequence of higher returns on financialassets. Yet, how can that be possible if the rate of interest is systematically lower than theprofit rate? This article addresses this issue. JEL Classification: E11.
