New Production Systems in Transition: Implications for the Brazilian Industry

Abstract

This paper examines changes that the Swedish, German and Japanese productionsystems are currently undertaking. It argues that new economic and socio-institutionalcontextual conditions worldwide together with domestic events are influencing a piece- mealchanges at the heart of the Swedish, German and Japanese production Systems. Implicationsfor Brazilian industry are discussed. JEL Classification: P12; O10.
