Liberalização comercial, distribuição e emprego

Abstract

O artigo aborda aspectos da economia política da liberalização do comércio.Examinamos as razões para o estabelecimento de práticas protecionistas, os custos sociaisde tais práticas e a relação entre conflitos distributivos e protecionismo, enfatizando a formaçãode coalizões distributivas. Aplicamos esses conceitos e ideias ao caso brasileiro, a fimde examinar os efeitos distributivos da estrutura protecionista que prevaleceu até o finaldos anos 80 e as possíveis mudanças ao longo dos anos 90. Por fim, desenvolvemos ummodelo macroeconômico para explorar os efeitos da liberalização na distribuição funcionalda renda e da demanda agregada. Classificação JEL: F14; F16; F43; D72.
