Assessing the potential of Ukraine's agricultural lands with the use of FAO's AEZ methodology

Abstract

In connection with the urgent character of natural-agricultural zoning of the territory of Ukraine, the authors outline the basic principles of the FAO-elaborated methodology of agro-ecological zoning for estimation of soil productivity. The article provides preliminary results of the estimation of domestic agricultural potential, which were obtained within the framework of collaboration with International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis.
