Abstract

Este artículo trata sobre la importancia de las infraestructuras públicas para la competitividad, el desarrollo y el crecimiento de un país. De hecho, son muchos los estudios que ponen de manifiesto la estrecha correlación que existe entre la inversión en infraestructuras públicas, la productividad del sector privado y la creación de empleo. La inversión en infraestructuras no sólo constituye un componente esencial en la formación de capital fijo, sino que sus efectos externos sobre la competitividad y capacidad de crecimiento contribuyen a explicar parte de las diferencias en las tasas de desarrollo entre distintos países y regiones.
