Abstract

Is yasantisinda ya da kariyer gelisiminde basari ile ilgili yapilan arastirmalar bireylerin sahip olduklari entelektuel zekanin (IQ) tek basina yeterli olmadigini gostermis, gerek kisinin kendi duygularini ve gerekse baskalarinin duygularini anlama, duygulari ifade edebilme, duygularini kontrol edebilme, empati kurabilme, iletisimde farkindalik gibi becerilerin de oldukca onemli oldugunu gostermistir. Bireyin cevresel baskilarla ve isteklerle basa cikmak icin basarili olma yetisinde; duygusal, kisisel ve sosyal yeteneklerin butununu kullanmasi olarak ifade edilen duygusal zekânin, entelektuel zekâdan farkli olarak gelistirilebilir olmasi yogun rekabet ortaminda isletmelerin kurumsal performanslarini arttirmak icin de duygusal zekâya onem vermesi, bu konunun populer olmasina yol acmistir. Universitelerdeki akademik ilerlemeler, akademik gecmis, yayin sayisi, ders anlatabilme kabiliyeti ve kisilerarasi iliskiler gibi pek cok faktoru icermektedir. Bu calismanin amaci, baskalarinin duygularinin farkinda olma, kisisel guc, yasam kalitesi, optimum performans gibi duygusal zeka alt boyutlari ile akademik ilerlemeler arasinda gecerli bir iliski olup olmadiginin saptanmasidir. Calisma Dokuz Eylul Universitesi akademisyenleri uzerinde geceklestirilmis ve bulgular degerlendirilmistir.
