Determinantes del Crecimiento Económico en Bolivia

Abstract

La economía boliviana en los últimos años ha registrado un importante ritmo de crecimiento, particularmente entre 2006 y 2014. El desafío que enfrenta el país es mejorar y sostener la tasa de crecimiento de la economía a fin de mejorar las condiciones de vida de la población. En este trabajo se realiza una aproximación de los determinantes del crecimiento económico mediante estimaciones de regresiones de crecimiento utilizando la metodología de Barro (1991) con información de datos de panel regional (departamentos) para el periodo 1993-2014. De acuerdo a los resultados los factores básicos del crecimiento económico de Bolivia son el capital físico y humano, la estabilidad macroeconómica, la institucionalidad del país y la redistribución del ingreso. En este sentido, políticas orientadas a fortalecer la educación, con énfasis en la calidad, la mayor provisión de infraestructura productiva, la estabilidad macroeconómica con una inflación anual por debajo del 6%, un gasto público sostenible, la seguridad jurídica y la administración de la justicia eficiente, y la profundización de la redistribución del ingreso son factores fundamentales para impulsar y sostener el crecimiento económico.
