EC decisions and directives on information technology and telecommunications

Abstract

Since 1984 the European Commission has issued a variety of legal rulings in its effort to establish a structured and harmonized policy in the field of information technology and telecommunications (IT&T). This article examines the content and significance of several key directives and decisions which are 're-regulating' IT&T in Europe, and reflects on their likely impact on the industry and on telecommunications administrations.
