Micro open innovation dynamics under inter-rationality

Abstract

The research question is “How does the micro open innovation dynamics appear ?”, and the answer is needed which will guide a firm to choose open innovation strategies in reality. This study conducted the modeling and simulating micro open innovation dynamics of firms to answer. This study built 8 conceptual models of micro open innovation dynamics. These models could meet diverse cases on open innovation dynamics in reality under inter-rationality which is the bounded rationality in open innovation dynamics. Moreover, this study developed a causal loop model of micro open innovation dynamics and found differentiated locations of policy leverage according to eight categories of micro open innovation dynamics. In addition, this study fascinated the 8 categories through mathematical modeling in 3 dimensions such as cost, benefit, and time lag, and showed the diversities of open innovation dynamics fully. Finally, eight categories of micro open innovation dynamics were found from the analysis of Korean and US patents of 9 industries.
