Abstract

This paper analyses the effects of digital technology transformation on carbon dioxide (CO2) emission cycles using the listed manufacturing firms in China from 2013 to 2022. It is found that the digital technology transformation of enterprises significantly reduces the level of CO2 emissions. It is also observed that the impact of digital transformation on corporate CO2 emissions varies among different property rights sample groups. The findings indicate that the effects of digital transformation on CO2 emissions are more remarkable in state-owned enterprises. Digital finance also strengthens the impact of digital transformation on corporate CO2 emission reduction. These results provide theoretical support and empirical evidence for promoting digital transformation to reduce CO2 emissions in China.
