Transition of growth form from dendrite to aggregate

Abstract

Transition of growth form from dendrite to aggregate was experimentally studied in a solution growth system and in an electro-chemical decomposition system. The results indicated the following facts: The transition occurs through oscillation similar to the bifurcation scheme of the dynamical system. The growth orientation of a dendrite is not necessarily directed to one of the crystallographic axes. Irregular patterns can be formed without noise in an anisotropic system. A physical quantity related to this transition was measured for a metal aggregate system.
