Pattern growth and fluid displacements through porous media

Abstract

A review is given of various mechanisms which occur during immiscible displacements in 2-dimensional networks of interconnected capillaries. We show how the physical laws governing meniscus equilibrium and flow conditions lead to different statistical models (mean field, percolation, DLA…).
