Abstract

This paper gives the results of earthquake response analysis of nuclear power plant buildings in accordance with the methodology of seismic margin assessment and generic implementation procedure. Earthquake resistance of all the important buildings was considered taking a dynamic effect on soil–structures interaction (SSI) into account. The stiffness and damping values of simple soil model were compared. Limits of seismic resistance of buildings are expressed by high confidence low probability of failure. Impact contact between two structures is modeled by gap elements during the transient. The results of dynamic transient analysis on NISA and ANSYS are compared.
