The making of the new Russian chief executive

Author

  • Taucher, George

Abstract

The challenges facing the Russian chief executive are awesome. George Taucher investigates the case of Vladimir Gurov, CEO of the Bolshevichka Clothing Company in Moscow. He finds that, in general, although the controls and production orientation of the Communist era have apparently gone, many uncertainties and weaknesses springing from the past still remain. Shortages in supply are still endemic, knowledge of marketing skills poor, and the role of finance and cost control little understood. Gurov himself recognises the need to make urgent and particular improvements to his own company in order to survive.
