Año y medio de pandemia: años de vida perdidos debido al COVID-19 en México

Abstract

En el presente artículo se estiman los años potenciales de vida perdidos (APVP) a consecuencia de las muertes ocurridas en México a causa de la enfermedad por coronavirus (COVID-19) tras un año y medio de pandemia. A partir de los datos de la Dirección General de Epidemiología de la Secretaría de Salud de México, se ha estimado que entre el 18 de marzo de 2020 y el 17 de agosto de 2021 se registraron 3.123.252 casos positivos de infección por SARS-CoV-2, así como 249.525 defunciones, y se perdieron 4.989.194 años de vida, de los cuales el 61,1% corresponde a hombres (Secretaría de Salud, 2021b). El promedio de APVP por cada defunción ronda los 20 años y en por lo menos el 90,0% de los estados más de la mitad de los APVP se registraron entre personas menores de 60 años. Todas las estimaciones muestran diferencias importantes entre las entidades federativas.
