Las consecuencias de quedarse y de volver en el empleo de los uruguayos que migraron a España

Abstract

En este artículo se analiza el acceso al empleo de emigrados y retornados uruguayos. Se discute si la aparente ventaja del retorno, desde un contexto de alto desempleo como el español hacia otro con pleno empleo como el uruguayo, se distribuye de forma homogénea entre los retornados de este origen según sexo, instrucción y duración del asentamiento tras la migración. Aprovechando la coincidencia en la fecha de realización de los censos de ambos países (2011), se estima la probabilidad de empleo incluyendo la condición migratoria (retornado o emigrado) como control y término de interacción con otras características individuales. Los resultados confirman una distribución heterogénea de las ganancias del retorno sobre el acceso al empleo y el sector de inserción, que favorece a los varones menos educados y perjudica a las mujeres y a los retornados más instruidos.
