Salario Mínimo, Pobreza Y Clase Media. El Caso Ecuatoriano

Llamada a reducir la desigualdad y fomentar la cohesión social, la clase media tiene ante sí el reto de seguir creciendo y combatir su temida condición de provisionalidad. Con el objetivo de alimentar la política pública, exploramos el impacto del aumento del salario mínimo sobre la clase media en Ecuador. La hipótesis de la investigación es que aumentos del salario mínimo aumentarían los ingresos de los deciles intermedios. Los resultados muestran que las variaciones del salario mínimo se relacionan especialmente con los deciles intermedios-bajos. Called to reduce inequality and promote social cohesion, the middle class faces the challenge of continuing to grow and combat its feared condition of provisional status. With the aim of feeding public policy, we explore the impact of the increase in the minimum wage on the middle class in Ecuador. The research hypothesis is that increases in the minimum wage would increase the income of the intermediate deciles. The results show that the variations in the minimum wage are especially related to the lower-intermediate deciles.
