Abstract

"Conscious Tourism" is a philosophy that evolves from sustainable tourism, whose main differentiating factor is the incorporation of an ethical. Previous work has conceptualized conscious tourism from the perspective of experts. In this work we take a step further, incorporating, through a survey with a sample of 419 tourists the participation of international tourists. The results of the study show the relationship with the level of agreement of the definition of "Conscious Tourism" with the categorization of conscious tourists. Likewise, the coexistence of equality among participants, the active participation, the natural image, the satisfaction with the visit and the intention to return to visit Quito are characteristics of the conscious tourism.
