La Conexion Entre El Capital Humano Y La Competitividad En America Latina

Abstract

El propósito de este artículo es determinar en qué medida el capital humano contribuye a explicar la competitividad de una economía. Para ello, en primer lugar, presentamos diversas modelizaciones econométricas que relacionan de una manera estrecha la competitividad y el capital humano. Posteriormente, analizamos la evolución de dichas variables en los países de América Latina, para lo cual empleamos una variable "stock" de capital humano (el porcentaje de población mayor de 25 años que ha alcanzado al menos estudios secundarios) y una variable ex-post de competitividad (la cuota de mercado). Finalmente, relacionamos un análisis de correlaciones para determinar el vínculo existente entre el capital humano y la competitividad.
