El Posible Impacto Por El Incremento De Las Tasas De Interés En Estados Unidos Sobre La Economía De Guatemala

Abstract

La economía de Guatemala muestra una peligrosa dependencia a la economía de Estados Unidos. Este artículo tiene por objeto analizar el uso del modelo de síntesis neoclásica en el estudio del impacto derivado por el incremento de las tasas de interés estadounidenses sobre la economía guatemalteca. Se analizará el cuadrante R–Y conforme al modelo Mundell–Fleming, con la finalidad de incluir la balanza de pagos y el cuadrante E–Y, con el interés de encuadrar el modelo a la realidad de este país. Se asume que los activos financieros son sustitutos imperfectos y que la economía guatemalteca presenta una restricción externa al crecimiento.
