Desarrollo Económico Mundial En 2000-2010: Análisis De La Ocde, América Latina, África Y Asia

Analizamos la evolución del PIB por habitante en varias áreas del mundo durante el período 2000-2010, teniendo en cuenta la relación positiva entre industria y desarrollo y el efecto negativo del excesivo endeudamiento exterior. Constatamos que el conjunto de la OCDE y América Latina son las áreas en las que ha habido un mayor impacto de la crisis económica durante el período 2007-2010. Encontramos un efecto positivo del incremento de las importaciones cuando no implica un descenso de la producción industrial per cápita y no provoca un déficit excesivo de la balanza comercial, pero constatamos un efecto negativo en caso contrario, especialmente cuando el endeudamiento exterior es difícilmente sostenible. El artículo incluye un Anexo sobre las ventajas de las políticas de desarrollo frente a las políticas de ajuste en la Unión Europea y en otras áreas. We analyze the evolution of GDP per capita in several areas of the world during the period 2000-2010, taking into account the positive relationship between industry and development and the negative effect of excessive external debt. We find that the OECD countries and Latin America are the areas where there has been a greater impact of the economic crisis during the period 2007-2010. With respect to increase in imports, we find that the impact is positive if it does not imply a decline in industrial output per capita and if it does not cause an excessive deficit in the trade balance, but we find negative effects in other case, specially when foreign debt is unsustainable. The article includes an Annex on the advantages of development policies versus adjustment policies in the European Union and other areas.
