Zensus 2010/11: eine längst überfällige Erhebung

Abstract

In der Wissenschaft wird zu Recht viel von den Daten der Volkszählung 2010/2011, dem ersten Zensus seit der deutschen Wiedervereinigung, erwartet. Während die Volkszählung in den 80er Jahren in Westdeutschland noch hoch kontrovers war, gab es bislang kaum Streit um die jetzt anstehende Totalerhebung. Man kann nur wünschen, dass dies so bleibt. Die Zensusdaten sind für viele administrative und wissenschaftliche Zwecke wichtig, und der Datenschutz wird bei statistischen Erhebungen sehr gut gewahrt. Allerdings haben Totalerhebungen - zumindest in der heutigen statistischen Welt - nicht die überragende Bedeutung, die ihnen manchmal zugeschrieben wird.
