Demographischer Wandel und räumliche Mobilität: Einstellung der Bevölkerung, Urteile von Experten

Abstract

Angesichts der heutigen Alterszusammensetzung der Bevölkerung ist absehbar, dass die Zahl älterer Einwohner und deren Anteil an der Gesamtbevölkerung deutlich zunehmen werden. Die Auswirkungen auf die Siedlungsstruktur, die Verkehrsnachfrage und das Verkehrsangebot sind erheblich. Nach Ergebnissen von Befragungen, die infas und das DIW Berlin in der Bevölkerung und bei Experten durchgeführt haben, werden ältere Menschen in Zukunft mobiler sein und insbesondere mehr Auto fahren. Da Ältere generell mehr zu Fuß gehen als Jüngere, wird auch diese Form der Mobilität künftig an Bedeutung gewinnen. Dennoch wird mit fortschreitender Alterung der öffentliche Personennahverkehr einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Mobilitätssicherung leisten müssen. Schon jetzt fällt die Aufrechterhaltung eines ausreichenden Verkehrsangebots in vielen Regionen schwer.
