Trotz Schwächephase der Weltwirtschaft weiter wachsende Metallmärkte

Abstract

Die seit Ende 2000 anhaltende weltwirtschaftliche Schwäche hat die bis dahin positive Verbrauchsentwicklung bei vielen Metallen in den Industrieländern beeinträchtigt. Der Weltverbrauch der meisten Metalle nahm allerdings noch zu und erreichte im Jahre 2002 zum Teil eine Rekordhöhe. Ursächlich hierfür war vor allem die Entwicklung in zahlreichen Schwellen- und Entwicklungsländern sowie in Osteuropa. Unabhängig von der konjunkturellen Erholung in den USA und Europa lassen die zum Teil sehr dynamischen Märkte in diesen Ländern weiter wachsende Metallmärkte erwarten. Hierauf deuten die aufwärts gerichtete Entwicklung des Pro-Kopf-Verbrauchs sowie ehrgeizige Ausbauplanungen insbesondere in China hin.
