Verbrauchskonjunktur insgesamt robust: der private Konsum in der Europäischen Währungsunion zur Jahresmitte 2000

Abstract

In den elf Ländern der Europäischen Währungsunion (EWU) hatte der private Konsum im Jahre 1999 - auf der Preisbasis 1995 - eine Größenordnung von insgesamt 3,25 Bill. Euro. Deutschland hatte daran mit einem Drittel den größten Anteil, gefolgt von Frankreich mit gut einem Fünftel und Italien, auf das rund 18 % entfielen. Die nächstfolgenden Länder Spanien und die Niederlande kamen zusammen auf knapp 15 %. Mit diesen fünf Ländern sind schon fast neun Zehntel aller privaten Konsumausgaben in der EWU erfasst. Aus statistischen Gründen muss sich die Analyse auf die acht größten Länder (EWU-8) beschränken. Die drei kleinsten Länder (Portugal, Irland und Luxemburg) konnten wegen fehlender Quartalszahlen nicht berücksichtigt werden; allerdings ist ihr Anteil mit zusammen rund 3 % sehr gering.
