Abstract

This paper investigates the influence of Microfinance services on SMEs’ Perceived Organizational Performance and tests the mediating and moderating roles of entrepreneurial opportunity and risk taking. Data were collected from 232 SMES’ managers in Bukavu Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Structural equations modeling and hierarchical regression were used to analyze data. Findings confirm that loan positively influences SMES’ perceived performance. Findings also reveal that financial literacy leads to SMES’ perceived performance if entrepreneurs discover good entrepreneurial opportunities and exhibit a huge aversion for risk.
