Abstract

(VA) To what extent can reuse and recycling circular business models create and capture value in the long run? This question, which constitutes a major concern for firms and public actors, remains understudied in Strategy. Through a longitudinal study of the highly circular automotive end-of-life, we show that the concretization of these value potentials rests upon a collective activity, we call industry engineering, which aims at structuring new markets, value chains and value networks.
