Abstract

In this paper, the financial performance of BT, BRD, and Alpha Bank was analyzed. The study was done for 2017-2021, and five indicators reflecting the performance of the three banks before and during the COVID-19 pandemic were analyzed. The pandemic unexpectedly impacted the banking sector, which immediately acted on rates and deposits. The COVID-19 pandemic affected the incomes of consumers and businesses around the world. The banking sector's stability was and is a hot topic in the practical sphere. Given the particularities of banking, the sustainability of the banking sector is continuously exposed to exogenous and endogenous risks. The COVID-19 pandemic is the most threatening factor to the banking sector's stability, regardless of the country of origin. This paper shows how the covid-19 pandemic has affected the financial performance of the banks analyzed. Finally, proposals were made to overcome this crisis and achieve growth based on sustainable banking products.
