Abstract

Despite the theoretical and practical relevance that suggests the contribution of both, human resource management (HRM) and organisational culture, to strengthen corporate entrepreneurship, the interconnection of these factors within the context of corporate entrepreneurship has not been established. Against this background, this article outlines the reciprocal relationship between organisational culture and HRM, and highlights that the direction of influence is likely to change during the life cycle of an organisation. While the values founders bring in to their newly created organisation (and thus, the organisational culture) influence and permeate the HRM system at the beginning, HRM gains importance in developing and shaping existing values over time. Therefore, established organisations are forced to carefully elaborate existing as well as future HRM activities to be horizontally aligned within and vertically aligned with the envisaged culture in order to enable cultural change, and thus successfully establish corporate entrepreneurship.
