Abstract

For the effectiveness of networks transparency, trust and stability are important factors, mainly influenced by the network governance. In 2010, the Network Governance Code (NGC) was published in Germany. With its unbinding legal character as „soft law“, the code contributes to improving network governance structure by setting standards that networks and their participants can use for guidance and orientation. But it is up to the addressees to develop mechanisms for incentives and sanctions. Therefore, the impact of the NGC on the effectiveness and competitiveness of networks and the participating enterprises has to be examined.
