Transformationales (Self-)Leadership: Self-Leadership und Transformationale Führung

Abstract

Nach dem Leitsatz „Effektive (transformationale) Führung beginnt bei effektiver Selbstführung“ stellt der vorliegende Beitrag eine konzeptionelle Verbindung zwischen Self-Leadership und der transformationalen Führung her. Neben der jeweils getrennten Darstellung der beiden Konzepte hinsichtlich des aktuellen Kenntnisstandes erfolgt in weiterer Folge eine Analyse der Gemeinsamkeiten zwischen Self-Leadership und der transformationalen Führung. Auf Basis der konzeptionellen Analysen, theoretischen Grundlagen und empirischen Erkenntnisse wird das Transformationale (Self-)Leadership-Modell vorgestellt. Dieses zeigt auf, dass transformationale Führungskräfte in einem ersten Schritt selbst über entsprechende Self-Leadership-Fähigkeiten verfügen müssen, um ihre Geführten/Mitarbeiter effektiv führen und entwickeln zu können. In einem zweiten Schritt können die Geführten/Mitarbeiter ihre eigenen Self-Leadership-Fähigkeiten entwickeln und verbessern. Transformationale Führung liefert hierbei die notwendigen situativen Bedingungen. / According to the guiding principle that „effective (transformational) leadership begins with effective self-leadership“, the present work presents a conceptual integration of self-leadership and transformational leadership. Both concepts are highlighted separately according to current knowledge, followed by an analysis of their similarities. Based on this conceptual analysis, theoretical foundations, as well as empirical evidence, the Transformational (Self-)Leadership Model is presented with two steps. In a first step, transformational leaders must possess self-leadership competencies in order to effectively lead employees and develop themselves further. In a second step, employees can develop and improve their own self-leadership competencies, and transformational leadership provides the necessary context for such developments.
