America latina y el caribe: integracion e insercion en los mercados internacionales

Abstract

Este artículo discute los principales aspectos en lo referente al contexto en el cual tiene lugar la integración económica, especialmente desde 1960. Luego muestra cómo los diferentes acuerdos comerciales de Latinoamérica han tenido un desempeno diferente en el comercio internacional. El principal argumento es sostener, desde la perspectiva de Latinoamérica como un todo, como región, que se encuentra perdiendo importancia en términos de la contribución con exportaciones en el medio internacional. Mientras no cambie la estructura de las exportaciones, será muy difícil para los países latinoamericanos jugar un papel más decisivo en la esfera económica internacional, y tener los recursos que aseguren significativamente altos niveles de crecimiento económico, y sostenibles condiciones para desarrollo en las sociedades.
