Percepción de la pobreza en Colombia en los anos 2003 y 2016

Abstract

La percepción de pobreza en Colombia permite complementar los diagnósticos sobre bienestar que adelanta el país para procurar el desarrollo económico y social de sus habitantes. Por esta razón, el presente artículo analiza la incidencia de las características del individuo y su entorno sobre la percepción de la pobreza reportada por los colombianos en los anos 2003 y 2016. Para ello, se estiman dos modelos: un probit y un logit ordenado generalizado, empleando los datos de la Encuesta Nacional de Calidad de Vida para ambos anos. Se puede concluir que el ingreso monetario continúa siendo importante frente a la condición de percibirse pobre, aunque su contribución ha perdido peso. No obstante, han surgido otros factores, como: un buen estado de salud, el acceso a nuevas tecnologías y las soluciones a la congestión vehicular, entre otros, que contribuyen a reducir la percepción de pobreza. Finalmente, el estudio evidencia que existen factores que continúan siendo necesarios para que las personas dejen de considerarse pobres, pero que estos no han sido suficientes para cambiar su percepción
