De la ética del trabajo a la estética del consumo

Abstract

Aunque no se debería tomar muy en serio el tono de la proposición que intitula el presente artículo, es posible que la imagen de transición se nos presente hoy como una manera apropiada de abordar un estado de cosas que ha cambiado. No se debe tomar tan al pie de la letra el talante categórico de la frase, pues no nos parece sensato suscribir el “discurso de los fines” (de la historia, de las ideologías,del trabajo…) y por la misma vía adherir a la celebración espontánea de las prácticas de consumo. El propósito que a continuación nos alienta es, más bien, proponer claves de lectura para comprender cómo se desplazan ciertos valores colectivos desde que una ética del trabajo, quizás muy exigente, cede ante la estética del consumo contemporáneo.
