¿Por qué fue tan severa la crisis económica de fines de los anos noventa?

Abstract

Uno de los resultados más desafortunados de la historia económica reciente de Colombia fue, sin duda, el severo ciclo económico que experimentó la economía colombiana durante los años noventa. Este hecho rompió un patrón de ciclos moderados que había exhibido nuestra economía por varias décadas y que era visto como un ejemplo en el contexto latinoamericano y mundial. El ciclo que experimentó la demanda agregada interna fue particularmente intenso. Como lo muestran los datos, ni el auge del gasto de 1992-1994 ni la severa recesión de 1999 tenían antecedentes en Colombia.
