Abstract

Las ventas en corto son una herramienta de desarrollodel mercado de valores y una parte esencial delas estrategias de trading alrededor del mundo. Lacrisis financiera subprime demostró que, más quesu prohibición, se debe buscar una reglamentaciónadecuada y una supervisión sólida de ellas. Elpresente trabajo repasa el funcionamiento, riesgosy regulación de las ventas en corto y del mercadode préstamo de valores en el contexto internacional,especialmente en Estados Unidos, y proponealgunas modificaciones reglamentarias para el casocolombiano.
