Abstract

AbstractGROWTH AND INEQUALITY IN LATIN AMERICA: AN EMPIRICAL ANALYSISThis work presents a review about the empirical relation between inequality, measured by Gini´s Coefficient, and the Economic Growth also measured by the variation of the GDP per capita, of a sample taken from Latin America countries. It was found a strong relevant evidence on which the initial level of growth is a determinant phase of the degree of inequality. The opposite result, that is to say, the inequality as determinant of the economic growth, it was not possible to be shown in an empirical way for Latin Americancountries.
