Medición alternativa del bienestar: aplicación del índice abreviado del bienestar a la encuesta de presupuesto familiar en Venezuela

Abstract

Resume Este trabajo se propuso calcular el Índice Abreviado del Bienestar (IAB) para describir el perfil de bienestar arrojado por la Tercera Encuesta Nacional de Presupuestos Familiares venezolana (IIIº EPF). Siguiendo la metodología establecida por sus creadores, se evidenciaron aspectos mejorables e incompatibilidades con los datos que llevaron al ajuste de las fórmulas originalmente propuestas. La versión corregida del IAB fue aplicada resultando que los hogares gozan en promedio de 14% de bienestar, para lo que son determinantes las dimensiones de subsistencia y protección. Los hogares mejor posicionados con menos de 5 miembros, no superan la clase media, con tasas de remuneración y de cobertura de previsión social mayores del 30%, sin analfabetas y con buen nivel de educación. El estrato socioeconómico de pertenencia y las ‘horas de trabajo’ parecieran mediar entre los indicadores de gasto y el IAB. Hay poca desigualdad concentrada en el primer decil de la población.
