Inestabilidad financiera y regulación: una resena a partir de la crisis financiera de 2008

Abstract

Resumen: la reciente crisis financiera, gestada en el mercado hipotecario de Estados Unidos, ha replanteado el papel de la regulación financiera, especialmente a partir de las dos fuentes principales de inestabilidad en el sistema: los movimientos del capital y la mala gestión del riesgo. Por esta razón, expertos y hacedores de política han propuesto revisar las medidas que están contenidas en el acuerdo de Basilea II y han sugerido realizar modificaciones en materia de supervisión y control del sistema financiero internacional. La propuesta de reforma presentada recientemente por el presidente de Estados Unidos, Barack Obama, se ha sumado al debate sobre la estructura de la regulación financiera. En este artículo se discuten brevementelos principales puntos de debate que han surgido.
