Abstract

Resumen: este trabajo analiza la pobreza y el impacto que generan el crecimiento económico y las mejoras en la distribución del ingreso en la reducción de ésta. El artículo constata la importancia del crecimiento económico contra este flagelo, no obstante se hace necesario especificar que dicho crecimiento no sólo debe ser sostenible, sino que al tiempo debe considerarse la etapa del ciclo en la cual se encuentra la economía. En el trabajo se verifica la importancia de considerar una medida de crecimiento corregida por distribución, como determinante fundamental en la disminución de la pobreza. Adicionalmente, se confirma que no es clara la relación entre crecimiento económico y mejoras en la distribución del ingreso. El buen desempeño económico actual, representa un momento propicio para impactar positivamente en la reducción de los niveles de pobreza y mejorar la distribución del ingreso en Colombia.
